Newborn Photography Trend: Neutrals | Ann Lyle Photography | Boston, MA
Keeping the newborn session very simple is the newest and most popular request for my recent sessions. The request for simple scenes and soft muted colors is 70-80% of my sessions today .
When I started my business in 2013, there could not be enough props in a newborn session. In fact, nearly every scene was themed like Harry Potter, super heroes, babies dressed like their parent’s professions, etc. Bright, colorful, and over-the-top. Still cute, but hardly ever requested now.
Today, the sessions are all about the baby and celebrating their sweet simple beauty. With the exception of a few hats and tiny bears or flowers, excessive props are rarely used. The trend for newborn sessions with a timeless look to the photos is the top request. As a newborn photographer, I welcome the style and love the look and focus on the baby.
And, if you still want a crazy scene with 10,000 props….don’t worry, I still have them! :)
Swaddled Scenes by Ann Lyle Photography | Framingham Photographer
Every newborn photography session at my studio starts with a swaddle. Swaddles are the perfect way to get your newborn to relax and peacefully start the session. The tightness of the swaddle mimics the womb and helps your baby feel safe and calm.
Some babies will do this first swaddled scene awake, but most fall asleep pretty quickly once they are wrapped up.
I have nearly every color wrap you can imagine, so no need to bring any along. Just come to the session and watch the magic!
Baby Photography Sessions | Boston Baby Photographer
Photographing children 6-12 months old
Don’t worry about what outfit your baby should wear at their baby session. A diaper cover is all you need! Look how cute it is to show off your baby as a baby with cute little rolls and bellies out. You’ll have a lifetime to dress them in collared shirts and dress pants or little dresses with tights…but don’t forget to capture this short little window…as a baby!
When should I book my Newborn Session? | Top Newborn Photographers
Did you know that you should reserve a session space for your newborn photos with your favorite baby photographer about 4 months in advance of your due date? It’s true! The top newborn photographers in your area will book up several months in advance.
Here’s how the process works at Ann Lyle Photography, it’s not the same everywhere, but the general idea is the same.
Step one: Email me and let me know you would like to book a session (reserve a session) for your baby due in (whatever month).
Step two: I will email you an informational letter about the available session options with a reservation and deposit link for your newborn session. (The reservations are loosely based on your due date, but obviously, babies come whenever they want, so the actual newborn session date is created after your baby is born).
That’s it! Your session is reserved and I will be ready for you whenever your baby decides to arrive.
The process is very simple. Questions? Email me at ann@annlylephotography.com
