Boston Baby Photographer | 6 Month Photo Session
There is a popularity to reserving 2 sessions in the first year: the newborn session and the cake smash session. I agree… these are both WONDERFUL! But, I must insist that you add one more: the 6-month photo shoot. I have been photographing babies for over 10 years, and I believe this session may be the most important session of the first year.
A 6-month photography session captures a special milestone in a baby's life, marking the mid-year mark of their growth and development in the first year. Your little one may be sitting confidently at this age, but most are not. I encourage parents to consider what is most important - exactly at midyear, or sitting up. As you plan your mid-year session, consider that. Some parents book at 8 months just to be sure they have a sitter.
At 6 months, babies have usually developed their own unique personalities and are becoming more interactive with their surroundings. They have not yet reached stranger danger, and they will love being at the studio. This age is curious, playful, and full of expressions - perfect for a photo shoot!
One of the remarkable aspects of a 6-month photo shoot is the range of possibilities it offers. The photographer can showcase their little personality by capturing candid shots of them sitting, grabbing their toes, playing with toys, and having big gummy smiles.
I like to say this is the Gerber baby age (between 6 months - 10 months old). This is the age when your baby is going to look like a “baby”. By the time one year comes along, they will start to take on the look of a toddler, so don’t wait!
Whether your baby can sit or not, the session will capture the precious moments of their growth and development, creating timeless memories that you will cherish for years to come. So, get ready to celebrate this milestone and watch your little one's unique personality shine in the beautifully captured 6-month photos.
Clothing tips for Babies Tip #256 | Ann Lyle Photography | Framingham, MA
TIP 256:
When it comes to preparing for a baby photoshoot, you want the focus to be on the little one and not on their outfit. Wearing a classic baby style when is comes to clothing is a great way to ensure that the look of the photos remains timeless and doesn’t become dated quickly. Ideally, choose neutral or solid colors for your baby. This will ensure that the focus is on the faces and not on an overly busy pattern or vibrant colors that could distract from the stunning photos.
Baby Smiles and all the Other Faces | Massachusetts Baby Photography
Sure, your baby's smile is gorgeous and you want to get great photo of that sweet smile during your 6 month photo session. But that's not all! Trust me.
Part of the mid-year baby portrait experience is capturing your baby’s personality. All of it! You want to look back at these 10 or 15 years from now and remember all the funny, cute…and sometimes strange faces the your baby makes. They grow so quickly, capture it all.
So, don’t worry if your baby is serious for part of the session, sticks out their tongue, sucks in their lips, or even cries! Take the moment to create a keepsake of who they are in the moment.
And, we’ll grab a smile too!
Peaches and Creme CakeSmash Session | Boston, MA
What a wonderful cake smash session we had today! Prior to the session, mom had requested peach as the color of the cake smash and mentioned that she would like florals added as well. I am really in love with the balloon garlands by POP Fest Co (https://popfestcoshop.com), so I ordered a set for this session. It did not disappoint!
The baby was absolutely adorable and loved her cake smash session…which surprised her parents who didn’t know what to expect from her.
Overall, a total success and a very messy cakesmash!
