Selecting Props for your Newborn Photography Session

The ROSE basket!  Newborn girls in flowers is one of my most requested scenes for a newborn session.  The girls look so pretty surrounded by flowers.  It really is one of my favorite scenes to do in baby photography.

As you are preparing for your newborn's photo session, we will works on props and scenes for your session. At Ann Lyle Photography, we're here to make sure it's stress-free and enjoyable. Selecting props and scenes is a crucial part of the process, and here are some practical tips to help you make the best choices.

  1. Consider Your Style: Think about the style you prefer for your baby's photos. Are you into classic, minimalist looks, or do you prefer something more whimsical and colorful? Knowing your style will help guide your prop and scene choices. For example, is this rose basket for you? Or would you prefer something more simple?

  2. Keep it Simple: If you have one scene that is busy - like the rose basket, consider adding another scene that is clean and simple to make your newborn the focal point of the photos. Simple props like blankets and wraps can add just the right touch.

  3. Coordinate Colors: If you have a specific color scheme in mind for your baby's photos, choose props and scenes that complement those colors. This will help create a cohesive look that ties everything together.

  4. Think About Themes: If you have a particular theme in mind for your baby's photos, like a woodland or nautical blues and whites, we can select props and scenes that fit that theme or idea. This will add a fun, cohesive element to your photoshoot.

  5. Consider the Season: Take advantage of the season when choosing props and scenes. For example, in the spring, you might opt for floral props and scenes, while in the winter, cozy blankets and holiday-themed props could be perfect.

  6. Personalize It: Incorporate personal touches into your baby's photoshoot by using props that have special meaning to you and your family. Whether it's a favorite stuffed animal or a family heirloom, these personal touches will make the photos even more meaningful.

  7. Trust Your Photographer: Finally, trust your photographer's expertise. They have experience working with newborns and know what works best in terms of props and scenes.

By following these practical tips, you'll be well on your way to selecting the perfect props and scenes for your newborn session at Ann Lyle Photography. Remember, the goal is to create beautiful, timeless photos that you'll cherish for years to come.
